About me
Physiotherapy student, school representative, and community advocate — committed to healthcare that is grounded in both science and humanity.
I am Musembi Sandra Mutanu — a physiotherapy student, school representative, and someone who believes that care without leadership is incomplete.
Currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Amref International University, I have built my academic and professional identity around two convictions: that excellent clinical practice demands continuous learning, and that the best healthcare professionals are also effective advocates for the people around them.
"Leadership, for me, has never been about a title. It is about choosing to show up for the people in your space — whether that is a ward, a classroom, or a swimming pool."
As School Representative for the Faculty of Medical Sciences, I serve as the bridge between students and the institution — raising concerns, driving welfare initiatives, and ensuring that the student experience reflects the quality of care we aspire to deliver as future clinicians. Beyond the classroom, I advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights through the AMREF AM You SRHR Club and the Jonica Foundation, and champion mental wellness as Vice Secretary of the university's Mental Health Club.
My clinical experience — across M.P. Shah Hospital in Nairobi and Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital in Othaya — has grounded my academic knowledge in real patient encounters, giving me an early and honest view of how healthcare systems work under pressure. I return to every rotation sharper, more empathetic, and more committed than before.
